A New Model of Education

The mission of The Levites Academy is to empower Ugandans through transformative education to be intellectually equipped, spiritually fruitful, and vocationally capable to participate in the building and restoration of sustainable, flourishing communities. We believe in a new model of education, a unique curriculum for the people of Uganda, centered on the integration of academics, discipleship, and vocational training, designed to meet the specific needs of the community that our students and families live in.

An Integrated Curriculum

“Which commandment is the most important of all?”

In Mark 12, Jesus is asked by an inquiring scribe, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”. Jesus responds with what we know as The Greatest Commandment .

Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-34

To honor the Lord, The Levites Academy strives to love our neighbor [the community of Lugazi] as ourselves. We believe in an integrated, holistic approach to educating students that is both student focused and community based. Our mission, as we love our students with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind and with all our strength, is to teach our students to do likewise.

We believe that education and Christian discipleship go hand in hand. Our work is to empower students to live healthy lives spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Students will be trained in intellectual, spiritual, and vocational disciplines as they are taught about the abundant life in Christ that is offered to them and to their community.

Intellectually Equipped

Levites Academy graduates will be academically and intellectually prepared to contribute to the future that awaits them. Students will develop an interdisciplinary foundation of critical thinking and problem solving skills. They will learn to effectively communicate  through writing, speaking and collaborating with others. Students will meet or exceed all content and skill requirements of secondary school and achieve their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.

Spiritually Fruitful

To accomplish our vision, we  will work to ensure that graduates are doers of the word, not hearers only. The  Levites Academy will guide students towards spiritual faithfulness and maturity. Students will learn to disciple others and apply spiritual truth to real-world situations.  They will be rooted in a life of service within the community, fellowship in the local church, and perseverance in prayer.

Vocationally Capable

To address the outrageous youth unemployment and high school dropout rates in the country, Levites academy will provide a place where,  along with traditional classes, high school students will train and get certified vocationally before graduation. We will solicit the expertise of local business leaders and entrepreneurs as teachers to help our students become immediately hireable or self-employed after graduation, thereby cultivating thriving and self-sustaining communities.
